Kim has lived on the streets of Regency-era London (that's the beginning of the 19th century) as long as she can remember; she has no idea who her parents are, nor exactly how old she is. She was raised from a young age by Mother Tibb, who ran a ring of housebreaking, pickpocketing youths. Kim is an experienced thief with a notable talent for lockpicking.

Important note on Kim's appearance: Kim passes for a boy for almost seventeen years: clothing, hair, carriage, and all. That's in no small part thanks to the fact that she doesn't get enough to eat, so her development has been very much delayed, but she's also just good at passing. An ordinary observer would think she was a he.

It will take either extraordinary senses -- telepaths, for example, or werewolves and other scenting types -- or extraordinary observational skills to notice Kim's true sex. The first person to notice in canon is a spy; that should give some indication of how much training it takes. If there are any uncertainties or questions, don't hesitate to ping, e-mail, or drop an OOC comment.

In general, please check with me before having your character call her a girl. She won't take kindly to being casually outed.

Kim also has some magical potential that she's not yet aware of; again, please check with me before having your character mention it.
